Our Process
During the on-site visit we discuss what areas require epoxy coatings. We perform an inspection of the surface(s) to determine if any repairs are required and discuss colours of epoxy and the amount of amount of flake distribution preferred.
Once we are in agreement about what the project entails, we will make a list of what needs to be completed.
All of the information and the scope of work will be transferred to the quote document detailing all of the work to be completed for the project, along with individual costing of each item, payment terms and methods.
Installing epoxy floors requires multiple visits and is weather dependent. We will require access to the space(s) to be coated once it has been cleaned out by the client.
PLEASE NOTE: Proper ventilation is very important and heat will be required in the cooler months for the epoxy to cure properly.
- Our technicians arrive at the site with the project manager for introductions and all of the materials necessary for the tasks planned that particular day are delivered. Access to the space to be coated is discussed and agreed-upon.
- Once the client has emptied the area to be epoxied the preparation process begins.
- The floor is scraped and shop vacuumed and an acid-etch product is used to remove any grease or other impurities.
- The two-part epoxy is then mixed together and applied to the surface. Edges are cut in with a brush and the rest is rolled and decorative flakes are spread on the wet surface.
- The floor is on left to dry for at least 24 hours before our painters return and apply a clearcoat.
- The floor is left to dry for another 24 hours and can then be walked on. After 72 hours it can be driven on.
Upon completion of the job, the project manager and the homeowner inspect the work done and determine if any touch-ups are required. If needed, touch-ups are completed at that time. The satisfied customer then signs off on the project.
After the customer signs off on the completed project, payment arrangements are made as per the terms and conditions outlined in the quote.
